Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit
As of January 1, 2023, the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit (AFITC) federal tax credit is worth 30% of the purchase and installation cost of commercial EV chargers up to $100,000.
To qualify, all eligible fueling equipment must be set up either in a low-income community or in a non-urban area, as determined by population census tracts. To verify if an installation site falls within a qualified census tract, refer to the IRS Guidance on the Qualified Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit. Additionally, you can use the Argonne National Laboratory’s 30C Tax Credit Eligibility Locator tool and consult their list of frequently asked questions for more information.
